Alf-Egil Bogen

CEO, Novelda

Alf-Egil Bogen is a successful Norwegian inventor and entrepreneur.

He is one of the inventors of the successful AVR microcontroller and has been working in the semiconductor industry for over 20 years. He graduated from NTNU in 1992 and in 1995 he traveled together with his companion, Vegard Wolland, to Atmel’s headquarters in California and convinced the company that the Norwegian microcontroller was the future. Today it is the second most used microcontroller in the world with more than one billion produced every year.

Alf Egil was also a cofounder and Chairman of Chipcon, a company that became market leader in low power RF solutions. The company was acquired in 2006 by Texas Instruments Inc. for 1.3 billion NOK. In 2013 he served as the CMO of Energy Micro assisting the sale of the company to Silicon Labs where he now serve as a board member. In 2013 Bogen became CEO of Novelda, a provider of advanced radar sensors.

As one of the driving forces behind Maker Faire Trondheim, he is inspiring young makers as he once was (and still is) one himself.
