Karlijn Arts started her career in the field of International Conflict, but soon realised manmade climate change should be considered as the biggest security challenge of our times. Therefore she shifted her focus towards sustainable, groundbreaking initiatives to tackle this negative development. Since then, equipped with positivism and strong linking skills, she has monitored whales and dolphins on the North Sea, helped to build CO2 neutral houses and collaborated with others to create anti-poaching technologies. She sees huge potential in linking multiple disciplines in finding an answer to the biggest challenges, that is exactly why she joined the Living Light initiative: an initiative where they have combined nature, technology and science in order to harvest energy from plants. By opening our minds and stimulating cross-pollinations she is positive that many of these groundbreaking and balanced energy systems can emerge once more.
