Maria Strømme

Nanotechnology Expert

Dr. Strømme is professor of Nanotechnology at Uppsala University. When she was appointed professor in 2004, she became the youngest technology chair professor in Sweden at age 34. Strømme is the author of ~ 300 international journal publications and the inventor behind 40 + patents. 

She is the founder of the company Disruptive Materials AB. She has received a number of prestigious awards including the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences Gold Medal in 2012 ‘for her basic and applied research in nanotechnology and for her extensive entrepreneurship within physics and medicine’.

Strømme was an invited Key Note speaker the Word Economic Forum in Davos in 2018. She became the Swedish Woman of the Year in 2016 and she holds several national and international assignments including board positions in various companies and the Norwegian university NTNU.
